El projecte «Hold On», format per una instal·lació fotogràfica i una peça de vídeo, explora la relació entre el moviment i la imatge fotogràfica. El títol —que es podria traduir per ‘aguantar’ o ‘resistir’— fa referència a les imatges de cossos en suspensió aquí reunits gràcies a la fotografia, que els ha «congelat».
Per a aquesta obra, l’artista Laia Solé ha treballat amb l’Arxiu Fotogràfic del Centre Excursionista de Catalunya, concretament amb materials del segle xx, moment en què la fotografia encara no disposava dels avenços tècnics digitals. Solé recupera aquestes imatges per recordar-nos que el moviment ha estat sempre present en la fotografia, i, alhora, ens convida a pensar en un estat més ampli de suspensió: el d’una societat actual saturada d’imatges i travessada per un flux constant d’informació, que, més que orientar-nos, sovint ens desconcerta.

"Hold on" forma part del festival Panoràmic, que arriba a Barcelona per obrir noves connexions entre l’art contemporani i els espais de memòria que habiten la ciutat, del 23 d'octubre de 2025 a l'11 de gener de 2026 al Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (Barcelona). Curadoria a càrrec de Mercè Alsina, i amb la col·laboració de Berenguer Vidal de l'arxiu fotogràfic del CEC.

In contrast to the speed, productivity, and spectacle of capitalist society, the work of Laura Aranda Lavado invites us to adopt a slower, more mindful, and contemplative pace. Drawing inspiration from Vita Contemplativa by Byung-Chul Han, Aranda’s research redefines inactivity—not as a lack of action, but as a form of resistance and a means of reclaiming time.
The project brings together a selection of everyday, professional, and amateur images from the Arxiu Fotogràfic Comarcal del Vallès Oriental. These scenes of play, community, and freedom stand apart from productivity-driven narratives and challenge us to reconsider how we assign historical value to certain documents over others. One of the images has been translated into textile through crochet—an act that renders photography a manual, fragmented process, underscoring how images, too, are stories open to reinterpretation.
"Hold on" is part of Panoràmic, a festival that lands in Barcelona to open new connections between contemporary art and city's spaces of memory. Curated by Mercè Alsina with the collaboration of Berenguer Vidal from the CEC's photographic archive. On view from October 23th to January 11th at Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (Barcelona).
