Petites històries asfàltiques [small asphaltic stories] is an exploration across Lisbon's pavement looking for traces, objects, that speak of how space is being used. For days I walked and photograph whatever I found on the pavement: dog shit, chewing gums, cigarretes... The specific situation of these found objects, the density with which I found some of them... invited me to speculate about what the space could have been used for. I thus, invented a series of short stories for each of the selected photographs.

Laura walked her mon's Pekinese dog hoping to meet the German berger's guy. The fact is that having walked a few streets and squares of Bairro Alto, she found out the evidence the guy had already walked his dog.

Manuel tuned in all the radio stations upon understanding that the car horn would not save him from being stuck in traffic. He then emptied the ashtray and even dare to organize the car globe box.

Lidia would have killed the stupid who had thrown a chewing gum. She tried to remove it from the high heels she would wear at the opening.

Amidst the crowd Nuno recognized Helena's face, and Helena thought she might have seen Nuno before. Both shared the same curse: they were the ones who had always to stand and wait for the others in front of Suiça, a meeting point (and quite often of misendurstandings) in Lisboa.

Joao picked what he thought would be the last cigarrete of his live and throught with an aesthetic sense, what he thought would be the last pack of cigarrets, before starting what he believed to be a new life or the begining of something new.

Matilde waited two packs of cigarrettes before accepting she had been stood up. Angry with herself for having been too comprehensive with Rui, she decided to leave and buy another pack.
